You can upload digital pictures yourself through the "Photos" tab in the advertisers area. Please follow the instructions below:

• Please click on "upload new photo here" on the photos tab. A new window will open up from where you can browse through the directories on your computer.
• Click "Browse..." and choose the photo from your computer, which you want to upload to your photo archive for your property listing at Vacation Villas.net.
• Click "Open". The trail to your picture is now shown in the upper text field.
• Please enter the caption for this picture in the text field below.
• Click on "Upload photo". The picture will now be shown as a thumbnail in the same window in your personal VacationVillas.net archive.
• Please click on "Upload to photo overview" underneath the according picture in your photo archive (There you get by clicking on "Upload photo/Go to archive" on the photo overview page). The selected picture is now inserted in the respective photo slot on the photo overview page.
• Click "Save" to save the picture in the photo overview and to be able to view it in the preview.

Format
Your photos must be in JPEG format (.jpg). This is usually the standard format for digital pictures. If you have saved your digital photos in another format, please just save them again as JPEG before you upload them.

Width & Height
The minimum width for photos in landscape format is 300 pixels, the minimum height is 200 pixels. The dimensions for portrait format photos are 270 pixels in height and 170 pixels in width.

Filesize
We recommend a size between 200 and 500 kb per photo. The filesize limit per photo is 5 mb. The bigger a file is, the longer it takes to upload it and to load it later on in your property listing. Therefore, we recommend you to downsize large pictures before you upload them.

There are no restrictions regarding the theme - you can choose whatever you like. Nevertheless, we would recommend you to show at least one view of the outside and one view of the interior of your vacation rental.

The following types of photos cannot be published in your property listing:

• Collages
• Pictures with inscriptions, arrows, frames, clip-arts
• Paper prints or photos scanned from paper prints
• Slides
• Manually enlarged pictures
• Pictures, for which you do not have the copyright (e. g. post cards)

The thumbnail for your vacation rental is the picture shown in the search result lists. The picture of the first photo slot is the default thumbnail. You can only select a thumbnail for your property listing when your pictures have been approved by VacationVillas.net

How to select a thumbnail:

• You can select the thumbnail for your property listing at the bottom of the photo overview page.
• Click on the photo to get to your personal photo archive, where all approved pictures can be selected as thumbnail.
• Please click on the photo which you wish to display as thumbnail for your property listing on the search result pages.
• Click "Save".

Switching approved photos among each other
Photos which are approved and published in your property listing can easily be changed in their positions among each other. Just use the blue arrows to move the photos around. As soon as you have rearranged the photos the way you wish them to be displayed in your property listing, just click "Save". Your changes will be shown on the Internet straightaway.

Exchanging approved photos with photos from your personal VacationVillas.net archive
The exchange of any approved pictures - even if they are saved in your archive - is free of charge and you can easily do this yourself.

How to exchange the photos:

• Click on "Upload photo/Go to archive" in the photo slot to which you wish to upload a new picture.
• If you wish to replace the live picture by an approved photo from your archive, just click on the photo you wish to upload to insert it in your property listing.
• Click "Save". The previously published pictures will be downloaded to the archive and will be replaced by the newly-uploaded one in your live property listing.

If you wish to replace an existing picture by a completely new one, upload your picture to the archive like described in 1. Then please proceed as explained in 5. Your photo will now be labelled with the text "Awaiting approval". Please inform us by e-mail or telephone about the exchange. Within a maximum of 2 working days after receipt of your notice, we will approve and publish your picture online.
If you send pictures by e-mail or post, this is a chargeable service. Please look at our price list for more details.

Like all free texts, photos are checked by our internal quality control team who amends them in sharpness and luminance.

The approval and publication of newly uploaded photos takes up to two working days after receipt of payment resp. your notice.

No. You can also send you pictures by post or e-mail. In this case, the same rules regarding the dimensions apply as described in 2. and 3. The replacement of pictures sent by e-mail or post is chargeable, as the new photo will have to be checked and amended by our quality control.

Please do not forget to communicate us your property no. and the order in which you wish your pictures to be shown in your property listing. We will archive your photos after having built them in your listing. If you want us to send the photos back to you, please enclose a self-addressed post paid envelope.
