Ortakent is a peaceful town and one of the oldest human settlements in the area, a 10 min walk from the villa along a valley with citrus groves, olive, mandarin and fig trees. The seaside town of Ortakent Yahsi is 900 mts. from the villa, a favourite with the locals with its wide sandy beaches and good restaurants. The water is so clean (“Blue Flag”) and wind conditions so fantastic that it got a large sailing area. The Greek island of Kos is within sight. Bodrum or ancient Halicarnassus, the St. Tropez of Turkey, is easily reached by local bus (7 km). Boats start to the Greek islands of Kos, Rhodos, Simi, also the magnificent “Blue Voyages”. It features a magnificent Castle, the Myndus Gate, the Ottoman Shipyard Tower and a Museum of Underwater Archeology. It hosts several cultural festivals - notably the Ballet Festival in August, pop concerts at the Castle or in the 2000 year Amphitheatre.
