The comfortable, mid 2006 newly furnished 3-room-apartment is situated in the heart of the old town on the 2nd and 3rd floor of a white, lately renovated, typical Alfama-house which was build more than 100 years ago. Every building in this area is a listed building under monument protection. You reach the flat by several narrow alleys, passing some fishmonger stores in small houses, soccer playing children and old people on stone benches. The Alfama is the origin of Lisboa and has remained a village until today. A lot of buildings are already renovated, other are still in this phase, but this does not affect Alfama in its uniqueness. Restaurants, shops, pharmacy, cleaning and video stores are nearby. It is only a few minutes walk to the Lisboa “noble-mile” Rua Augusta and the surrounding shops as well as to the central attractions of Lisboa.

Lisbon is often described as the city of superlatives. On the famous viewpoints, the Miradouros, you experience incredible moments. You are always confronted with the extremes of old and new. Palaces decorated with the famous azlejos (blue tiles), iron elevators in the inner city, very interesting old graveyards are just as worth seeing as the modern scene in discos and bars at the docks and the large shopping malls. Cultural events of high quality will enthuse you as well as the small bakeries with the typical Portuguese pastries. The distance to the beaches and to the sport facilities are about 30 minutes by car. If you decide to rent a car you can leave it at the car park of Santa Apolonia Station - a few minutes of walking distance - at a price of about € 8 per day. Because of the very central location of our flat we recommend to use the favourable public transports.

The sofa bed in the living room of (140 x 190cms exented) offers space for two persons. Please note the open staircase in the apartment with might be a problem for very small children and handicapped persons. Normal occupancy is 2 up to maximal 4 persons. We are happy to offer you a bottle of Portuguese wine an a bottle of water as a welcome present.

Entertainment: radio, TV (satellite - mainly German channels), CD player, DVD player (CDs and DVDs available), telescope, games and books, picnic rucksack.
The apartment is allocated over 2 levels with open inner stairs. The bedroom is situated in the upper part and has a completely glassed oriel which offers a stunning view over river Tagus. Here you can enjoy your wine in the evening sometimes even listening some fado-music in the background. And here you can let your gaze wander over the nearby church of St. Miguel to the Tejo and the 17.2 km long bridge “Vasco da Gama” and the nature protection area on the other side of the river. For 'star watchers' we have a telescope available. The key as well as answers to possible questions you get by Catherine and Barbara in the „Pois Café“, 5 minutes apart, directly at the cathedral Sé. They speak German, English and Portuguese.
