In the midst of a fully fenced area of 55.000 sqm/14 acres with old cork trees, almonds, olives, figs and wine, reminding of the unspoiled state of the Algarve, the new country house was conceived in quinta-style and finished in autumn 2003. Built in a detailed specification, it offers high-quality equipment and all modern amenities. The lounge and all bedrooms open through spacious French doors to an extensive southern terrace offering superb panoramic views of the countryside. Paved ways bordered by colourful flowers lead down to the solar heated pool with built-in barbecue for dining alfresco. Very personally and tastefully furnished, the house of an artist is equipped with many paintings, carpets and classical-modern furniture. The beamed ceiling creates in all areas the cosy atmosphere of a country house with the elegant living room and the varied decorated bedrooms.

2 km outside of the small village of Barão de São João near Lagos/Western Algarve the 5.5 hectares large estate is situated in partly even, partly hilly country with charming old cork trees. This area “Lagoa da Rosa” with small houses scattered over the land is named after the rockrose flowering pink and white in spring. The location out in the country is quiet and marvellous, but just a short ride of 10 minutes to Lagos and to long sandy beaches.

Notes to the rental rates: These rental rates above are effective for a reservation of the villa for 4-6 people. If 2-3 people are staying on their holidays in the Vivenda da Liberdade the following rental rates per week (per night) apply: November 8th to December 19th 2008: 875 Euro (125 Euro), December 20th to January 2nd 2009: 980 Euro (140 Euro), January 3rd to March 20th 2009: 875 Euro (125 Euro), March 21st to May 8th 2009: 980 Euro (140 Euro,) May 9th to June 19th 2009: 1120 Euro (160 Euro), June 20th to July 10th 2009: 1400 Euro (200 Euro), July 11th to September 4th 2009: 1715 Euro (245 Euro), September 5th to 25th 2009: 1260 Euro (180 Euro), September 26th to November 6th 2009: 980 Euro (140 Euro).
Included in the rental rates: electricity, water, solar pool heating, twice a week cleaning service with change of towels, weekly change of bed linen, pool and garden service. Beach towels are not available. Local English speaking personnel can be contacted easily. Additional costs: in wintertime an extra charge is made for heating. Highchair, cot and baby linen available as flat rate of 50 Euro. A security deposit of 400 Euro is required upon arrival and will be returned minus any damage costs when leaving.
The villa is booked from 2.00 pm and should be vacated by 10.00 am on day of departure. A non-refundable 25% deposit will be required confirming the booking. Full payment 8 weeks before arrival. For last minute bookings the full amount is payable on confirmation.
A car rental booking can be arranged if you wish; then the car will be waiting for you at the airport. The favourite airport for your journey to the Algarve will be Faro (50 minutes drive); but also from the Airports of Lisbon and Sevilla/Spain (both 280 km) you can reach southern Portugal in a short time.

House and garden of the Vivenda da Liberdade are carefully and tastefully equipped and immediately makes you feel at home. Driving through an electrical gate you arrive at the villa and park your car in the double carport. A special building quality provides a pleasant climate inside during the entire year, and the under floor heating beneath the Spanish tiles ensures a balanced temperature in the house. After swimming in the solar heated pool (34 sqm; 0,90-1,90 m; heating depends on season and sunshine) you can amuse yourself by playing table tennis, by reading a book from our collection or by listening to a CD. A complimentary welcome pack is provided for you. If you choose the Vivenda da Liberdade for your holidays, we will gladly welcome you with a bottle of Portuguese wine.
Surrounded by large terraces (260 sqm), 40 sqm covered, the Vivenda da Liberdade has many comfortable outside dining areas with teak tables and chairs offering panoramic views of the southern landscape to the coastline of Praia da Luz 9 km/6 mi away. Shady spots under old trees are scattered around the Mediterranean garden park (3000 sqm). Landscaped with original cobbled walkways the garden delights you with a large lawn area (300 sqm), a rockery and a variety of bushes, palms and flowers. In the evening you can join together and enjoy a barbecue at the pool terrace.
Restaurants and shopping
Visiting the Parque Zoológico de Lagos nearby is quite an experience for the whole family. Only a few minutes’ walk away there is an excellent restaurant in tasteful Portuguese ambience. In the neighbouring village, Barão de São João, the guest will find other restaurants and a corner shop. The picturesque city of Lagos can be reached from Bensafrim on the new motorway in a few minutes. Besides historical sights, this town offers many opportunities to go shopping and dining.
Beaches, trips and day tours
The long, sandy beach Meia Praia in Lagos you can reach in about ten minutes by car. It’s worth visiting the astonishing grottos Ponta da Piedade and the picturesque sandy coves along Lagos’ coastline. Also within easy driving distance are the wildly romantic cliff bays of the western Atlantic coast located in the nature reserve “Costa Vicentina”. Very inviting for walking and cycling trips in the vicinity of the villa is the National Forest “Mata Nacional de Barão de São João“.
Palmares golf club (15 minutes drive) well situated with beautiful views out over the Bay of Lagos is a real treat for every golfer. Quinta da Boavista golf club (10 minutes drive) on the outskirts of Lagos fulfils the expectations of beginning and advanced golfers. Parque da Floresta golf club (15 minutes drive) the most westerly of the Algarve courses is situated in natural, hilly country with cistus bushes near the nature reserve “Costa Vicentina”.
