There are a huge variety of activities one can undertake in Galazia Akti, Athens and the surrounding areas. Apart from going swimming and having fun on the various beaches, both natural and organised (organised beaches can be found in Varkiza and Vouliagmeni), one can visit places of extraordinary beauty like the Lake of Vouliagmeni with its picturesque surrounding mountains and two luxurious traditional Greek restaurants laying their tables and chairs in between the trees. Other places of extraordinary beauty are the rocky beaches at Sounio as well as the Temple of Poseidon at Sounio. This is a place of great historical significance as Poseidon; the god of the Sea was being worshiped there at ancient times. The Temple is built on the highest hill of Sounio and the view from it is formidable. Piraeus, the main harbour of Athens is about 60 minutes drive. Once there you can get the flying dolphins (catamaran type of boats) and visit the nearby islands like Egina, Poros, Hydra.
