Our spacious house with holiday flat in the Black Forest-style (rated* * *) is situated next to the center of the village at a dead-end street and quiet therefore. Adjacent to the park of a * * * * *Star luxury hotel it is next to small lakes and surrounded by sunny gardens. The apartment of * * * star quality has its own charming atmosphere. Lovingly restored original wooden floors and renovated wooden walls allow for an atmosphere of Black Forest style. The modern kitchen provides comfort. Guests may book the apartment also with breakfast. The living room is always facing the light and sunny garden-side and is furnished with an inviting couch. The bedrooms have new double beds or individual single beds. The large balcony, equipped with sunlounger and table invites to relax. Hinterzarten is rated a health resort of Premium Class in the Southern part of the Black Forest - one of the most appealing areas of Europe. Hinterzarten offers tranquillity, and on the other hand an opportunity to participate in sport and recreational activities. The apartment offers two bedrooms for 2-4 guests. The second bedroom in apartment 1, has television, two armed chairs, a separate kitchenette and shower/WC. Ideally suited for families with children or two couples. The house and the holiday flat have been renovated in the course of the last 4 years. The apartment’s original style was kept with new furniture and fitted/built-in kitchen including dishwasher. Washing machine and laundry dryer may be used on demand. Now and then, our guests may eat at the Table d'hôte. All over the year, we enjoy an agreeable climate. The house is well and warmly heated, a lounge with tiled oven invites to relax. In summer, the near forest and shady trees make it a fresh place.

In wintertime, village and landscape change into a fantastic winter-paradise. Main streets are cleaned from snow to allow motoring. You enjoy wide untouched landscapes on comfortable winter-footpaths, the mountains on snowshoes or skis. A network of tracks invites to cross-country skiing. Our house is situated directly below the ski jumping area, an ideal camp for training groups.
Highlights in culture and sport:
In summertime, there is –quite interestingly- an international ski jumping competition accompanied at the same time by an international championship of northern ski combination. National tennis tournaments take place, as well as the black Forest Ultra Bike marathon, and further sport activities. In wintertime, you may watch cross-country ski-championships, and traditional horn-sleigh-races or other interesting events. Cultural highlight is to be seen in a classic music festival, the Marschner festival in August and September with musicians of international standing. Jazz-nights, musicals, theaters, music, traditional Costume Processions, and the regional very special carnival „Alemannische Fasnacht“, a large variety of events. One may go to traditional markets and presentation of medieval type craftsmanship still present in the Black Forest, Titisee Lake Festival, museums; there are many typical events of the season which make your vacation to become a great experience.

In Hinterzarten any family may find various leisure activities under diverse programs for all members of the family. Suitable sport activities, nature trails, horse riding stables, museums, Funparks, grill-places, playrooms for children, everything are for the family to relax; special programs are available. The health resort -Hinterzarten being a climatic spa- offers a healthful, high quality clean air, a medically effective climate and certain health facilities approved by health authorities. Regimens on abstinence or more specially FX Mayrkur, seminars on over weight-management, all may be accompanied by gymnastics, Yoga, Tai Chi and Nordic Walking. Hinterzarten is to be reached well by railroad. The motorway or high-speed trains -„ICE“- to Freiburg, and a mountain train uphill to Hinterzarten at 850 m altitude. The place offers good shopping opportunities. Many restaurants invite, traditional inns, pubs and Italian pizzerias up to exquisite restaurants with high standard.
In a distance of approximately 2 km from our house golf may be practiced in the golf club of „Hochschwarzwald“ built in one of the most beautiful valleys of the Black Forest. The golf club is optimally adapted to the special landscape of the mountain area. Rolling hills covered by the typical bruce and fir tree, promise a game in an incomparable surroundings. The club offers a 9-hole facility and a driving range, the expansion to 18 -holes is under construction. The club trains teenagers in the golf-season in the age between 10 and 18 years. Large parts of the Black Forest are protected under the „German Nature Conservation Act“ . Therefore one may have a fantastic view into gorgeous side-valleys with old farmhouses built hundreds of years ago.
Ski information
The plateau about Hinterzarten offers a dense net of cross-country tracks; downhill skiing may be exercised. The slope „Thomahang“ offers different ski-runs for beginners and experts. A snowmaking machine is under construction for the next winter season 2008/2009, guaranteeing snow anytime during the winter. In the proximity, we have a center of wintersport activities the „Feldberg“, the highest mountain in the Black Forest. 14 ski-lifts grant access to 16 slopes in all levels of difficulty. Most modern ski-lifts, and snow for 5 months in the wintertime.
