This is a dream-like, quiet, old wood farmhouse in the middle of wood and nature. You will live in a comfortable, authentic and old house with wood (original construction year: 1831, lovely renovated in the 60s). You apartment has its own access, 2 balconies, a pitched roof area and a magic view upon the heights across the house. In the middle of the 34 m² large 1-room apartment with shower bath and WC, there is an electric heated living-/ bedroom with a double bed (which can be turned into 2 single beds), a small suite and a dining corner. In the kitchenette (with 2-plate stove) refrigerator, microwave, coffee machine, kettle and toaster are available. The electric fireplace creates a romantic atmosphere. A Sat-TV is of course available. On request, you can order yourself bread rolls and use the drinks kiosk. Pets are welcome.

Our small, dreamy vacation village with historical log houses hides itself in the middle of the woods and can be reached over a forest trail without traffic. The accommodation nestles itself idyllically among the spruce trees, behind the meadow with summer open air pool. It has barbecue and playground. Located 750 to 800 m high, it enables you to experience the stars very intensively. The air is pure and the peaceful atmosphere unique. Your house is located in the Nature Park ‘Bavarian Wood’ and belongs to the outside area of the climatic spa Bischofsmais. During the snow free seasons, Bischofsmais turns into a large hiking region with a summer toboggan run, a mountain bike show-jumping course and an entertainment park. In the wintertime, there are winter sport possibilities: toboggan run, lifts, ski-runs, km long marked cross-country skiing runs. Other hiking and skiing regions such as Hausberg, Rusel, etc are easy to reach.

Notes to the rental rates: The Christmas Season (high price season) is usually booked by our enthusiastic regular guests and this is why it doesn’t appear as available. If you book by day or by week, a flat rate of 36 Euros is due for the final cleaning. Linen can be rented from the vacation village administration for 5 Euros. Heating and water usage are included in the daily rental price. The flat rate for the weekend, however, includes both linen and final cleaning (161 Euros for the weekend). The Bischofsmais Community requires a resort tax of 0.30 Euros per day and per guest, which we kindly ask you to pay on location.

The apartment harmonizes with the historical character of the house, and has partially old, traditional furniture, as well as a few antique agricultural objects. You can rent linen for 5 Euros. In the central building of the vacation village you will find a family sauna. The guests also have access to the drink storage (list of trust). The nicely arranged common room is suitable for training sessions and larger groups (up to 50 people. It has a TV and a video player. The open air pool has spring water (very refreshing) and can be used only during the warm seasons. There is an area for dogs. In the winter, you can rent sleds from the administration (the vacation complex has its own sled run). The proximity of the vacation village enables you to order bread rolls for your breakfast, buy souvenirs, post cards, etc.
The tourist attractions described in various guides turn the vacation village Dürrwies (and your apartment in the House ‘Siebenschläfer’) into a special vacation destination in the biggest woodland in Europe. Starting from your house or from other nice points in the village, you can set off for hiking in the low mountain range. You can gather many experiences in the glassblowing centers and museums. A ship ride on the Danube can also be listed in your vacation entertainment program, as well as animal watching, festivals or excursions in the neighbouring Czech Republic. There are many diverse restaurants. The Bavarian Wood offers many possibilities for your winter activities: lifts, starts and cross country skiing runs and Alpine slopes. Your next skiing region is 'Geißkopf' belonging to Bischofsmais. Arber is also favoured by sport enthusiasts. The romantic ambient of your small ‚nest’ is unique regardless the season.
History and surroundings
Rarely are you closer to nature than in Dürrwies. Rarely do you get the chance to live in such a rustic environment. We often hear from our guests that they have never slept better than how they slept here. About the house “Siebenschläfer“: it used to be a farmhouse from 1831, in Rechertsried. In the 60s, it was reconstructed log for log in the wood area of the baron of Detten, as a part of the special vacation village. The old aspect of the house was preserved. A new comfort standard was attached to it so that the guests can feel good. Located at 750 - 800 m, the vacation paradise offers an ideal change in the landscape of the low mountain range (with heights between 1000 and 1400 m). In 2007, the wood vacation village celebrates its 45th birthday.
Shopping possibilities
Dürrwies offers upon request breakfast bread rolls service and also has a drinks kiosk with wines, beers, lemonades and water. In Bischofsmais (approx. 5 km away) you can find an Edeka-Market, a health and beauty retailer, a pharmacy, and numerous spezial shops for baked products, meat, fruit, stationary, electronics, sport articles. You can also buy shoes and artistic glass objects, you can go to the hair dresser. A post office is available, as well as 2 doctors, a traditional healer and a dentist. There are numerous restaurants. The next towns: Regen (approx. 12 km) and Deggendorf (approx. 17 km) offers a large range of shopping and entertainment possibilities.
Beside the Rusel- and Hausberg skiing regions within 5 km, there is the 1100 m high 'Geißkopf', the main mountain in Bischofsmais, with many levels of proficiency. There you can find 8 starts, a chair lift and a cable lift, as well as the longest lit slope in the Bavarian Wood. There are many km of cross-country skiing runs in Bischofsmaiser and Deggendorf. You can also have a lot of fun on the Geisskopf toboggan run. On the grassland of Waldferiendorf Dürrwies you can practice your skiing skills. Not least, there is the famous Arber, which is worth a trip.
