Wines and vineyard
The Jura wines are not very well known, however they offer some interesting rarities. 'Vin Jaune', the yellow wine has been developed by the nuns of Chateau-Chalon. Based on the grape 'savagnin', this wine is matured 6 years in oakcasks, before being bottled in a specific bootle called 'clavelin'. This wine with walnuts aromas is surprising at first taste. From the grapes 'Savagnin and Chardonnay', the winters make a dry white wine, and from the grapes 'poulsard', 'trousseau' and 'pinot noir', they produce a fresh red wine with light colour. You can also taste some other specialities like 'Macvin' and 'Vin de paille', straw-wine at the facilities of most winters. Further, the Burgundy region is only one driving hour away.
