The house, whose oldest part is from the 16th century, is located in the centre of a small hamlet at a south slope, surrounded by woods and vine. A small street leads into the village and ends there. This means there is no passing traffic. Actually the atmosphere of the village is very quiet and laid-back, because there is neither tavern nor shopping facilities – except for a butcher that patrols the village honking on Fridays, and the baker that brings fresh bread and croissants every other day. The best place for a breakfast is the courtyard under a big, shady tree. 6 km away there are cafés, shops, restaurants, gas station, repair shop, post office, pharmacy and doctors in Goudargues. You can lend bicycles here or rent a canoe for a day and paddle along the Cèze. Naturally Goudargues has an obligatory village square surrounded by sycamore trees, where theyou can throw a boccie ball while enjoying pastries.

Notes
One of the two bedrooms is equipped with a “German“ double bed, the other with a French “grand lit”. Especially in autumn and spring this is a lovely area, but still gets very chilly at night: chimney in the “Grange” and several electric furnaces in the rooms. Kitchen towels are present, bedclothes and towels are to be brought.
Goussargues is situated very close to 3 rivers that invite you to go swimming or canoeing: the Cèze, the Ardèche and the Gardon. It is not far to the Cevennen, an ideal hiking area with chestnut woods and freezing-cold mountain rivers. Who is not willing to abide the sea can reach the beach of Grau-du-Roi in about two hours. Further expedition destinations: Nîmes, Arles and Orange with its roman arenas and amphitheatres, Avignon (Palais de Papes), several prehistoric caves, the “Bambouseraie” (a huge bamboo wood), spectacular canyons (Ardèche, Chassezac, Concluses). To Uzès, a culturally active town in Renaissance style, it takes a 20 km drive. The wines of this region are legendary: Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, Tavel.
