Gite in a walled Garden in Uzes
The accommodation downstairs comprises of one vast living room with stone walls and wooden beams, opening on to the garden by a large bay-window. It is equipped with a kitchenette and a fold-away bed (for two). There is a TV set. Central heating (extra charge) will be available if the weather makes it necessary. A 'first-floor' bedroom with a double bed and a single bed are available. You have a view on the village. Bathroom and toilets. There is a Mezzanine in the same room, holding two single beds. The interior is fully equipped. It is a very romantic place to be with dried garden flowers hanging from the old beams in the dining room but you can also eat on the terrace under a Provencal sun.

Montaren built around a medieval castle is surrounded by a vast plain where vines grow along with olive-trees and other fruit-trees, and where asparagus is cultivated among other vegetables. A 'pinede' or pine-forest crowns the village and you can walk or cycle about leisurely if you don't want to use a car. In the village itself, within walking distance of the Gite, you will find a bakery, tobacconist and newspaper shop, a post-office. Uzes: A medieval town, one of the rare places in France to have saved its pre-revolutionary documents (in a wine-barrel!), with the 'Duche'. Wednesdays + Saturday are market day and among the perfumes of Provence (lavender for one) you can buy fresh vegetables and many local specialities. Other places to visit are: Orange, Avignon, Nimes, Arles, Glanum, Vaison la Romaine, Camargue, Cevennes, Montpellier.
