'Cave Ancienne' in the heart of the Fenouilledes - Welcome to the legendary country of the Cathars. Still a productive winery until 1934, the estate has been converted into a charming guesthouse. The architectural style of the historic buildings has been preserved. We offer our visitors a variety of comfortable and fully air-conditioned self-catering apartments (2 different sizes) and rooms (B&B and half-board) throughout the year. The characteristic ambiance is perfectly adapted to the environment: rustic on the outside with a touch of modern elegance on the inside. We offer you the magnificent scenery and we hope to make you feel truly a part of the beautiful landscape that surrounds us. Thanks to its ideal geographic location within close vicinity of many of the most beautiful and impressive sites of the Pyrenees Orientales and the department of Aude, Cave Ancienne provides the perfect holiday base from which to explore this diverse and ever surprising landscape.

Ground floor holiday apartment of about 55 qm (for up to 5 people). The apartment has its own private terrace, fitted with garden chairs. Interior walls separate the living and sleeping quarters in a sensible yet aesthetically pleasing fashion. Sleeping facilities are a double bed, a very comfortable convertible sofa bed (double) and a single bed. There is sufficient space for a side bed or children's bed (Please inquire when making your reservation). The cosy dining and living area is fitted with a TV (satellite) and telephone as well as heating and air-conditioning. The spacious bathrooms are fitted with a shower, hand-wash basin and a toilet. The bed linen and towels are provided for the duration of your stay and included in the rental rate. These are completely changed over once a week. Bathing in one of the many natural rock pools in the gorges of the immediate surrounding area is also pleasure that should not be missed. Insider tip: a safe and quiet, absolutely natural bathing spot known only to insiders is hidden right between the rocks and the plateau on the edge of the village - waterfall included. Just the place to relax at the end of a hard day's holiday fun. Open air swimming pools and new leisure-pools in the surrounding villages also ensure plenty of variation on the theme of wet and cool fun pursuits. Multi-lingual reading material (travel guides, maps) can be borrowed free of charge. Within the village of Caudiès de Fenouillèdes one can find all the services necessary for daily life: a butcher, baker, grocery, tobacconist and newspaper shop, chemist, post office, a small weekly market, a bus station, a bar and pizzeria, restaurant as well as a tourist information office - all within an easy walking distance of 2-7 minutes away at the most.

Roussillon is an immensely historic region. The remnants of the past can be encountered everywhere, particularly here in the south. Whether young or old, adventure thirsty or laid back - can enjoy this varied region according to their own heart's desire. Hardly any other place offers such a wide-ranging choice of close-up nature encounters, thrilling adventure sports or conventional family fun and history and culture. Where else in Europe is it possible to go skiing at 3000 m in the morning and relax at the beach to soak up the sun that same afternoon? Here, where the mountains converge with the sea, practically the entire spectrum of outdoor activities can be found within a small area: For walking, mountain biking and horseback riding the landscape presents a paradise. The breathtaking beauty of this largely unspoiled mountain world has so far been preserved from the onslaught of mass tourism and thus still offers nature experiences that have become rare in Central Europe.

Despite of the dreamy vineyard village atmosphere of Caudiès de Fenouillèdes, Cave Ancienne is integrated remarkably well into the network of national and international traffic connections. Situated about 40 km west of Perpignan (London connection) and 70 km south of Carcassonne (London, Brussels). Perpignan (½ hour) as well as Carcassonne (1 hour), cities that have their own airports that also offer international connections. Ryan Air flies to both airports from Belgium as well as from London. Other airports of the region are located at Toulouse (approx. 150 km), Montpellier (approx. 160 km), Girona (approx. 1½ hours by car). Most of our guests make use of the air connection to Girona in northern Spain. By car: Via Perpignan you are connected to the southern motorway network of France. The A 9 leads all the way to Perpignan and continues on parallel to the coast down to Barcelona.
