Etcheberry Borda is a historic stone cottage with the typical character of traditional Basque farms. It is situated in the lovely hilly landscape near the Pyrenees close to Biarritz and the Atlantic Ocean and embedded between fields and pastures. Its surrounding is very quiet and peaceful. The natural garden with its trees and flowered bushes offers splendid views on the hills and valleys nearby. At the beginning of 2008 we developed a comfortable vacation home in here. On 100 m² you find an attractive apartment for up to 6 people. It has a large eat-in kitchen, 3 cozy bedrooms, a living room and 2 bathrooms, equipped with new shower cabins, toilets and wash basins. All rooms are characterized by visible oak ceiling beams and floors in wood or terracotta tiling. The completely new furniture is bright and tasteful. Wide French windows lead from the eat-in kitchen and the living room to the large terrace with its wooden garden furniture and further to the garden which covers about 670m².

The vacation home is located on the border of the villages Bardos and Orègue about 30 km from Biarritz. It is embedded in the lovely hilly landscape of the Pyrenees foreland. Here in the back country of the coast you will find tranquillity and seclusion. Yet there are lots of possibilities to discover this beautiful region: you can reach the beaches in 30 minutes, to the mountains it takes just a little longer. There are picturesque villages to visit and even a trip to Spain e.g. in the vibrant city San Sebastian takes only one hour. The closest shopping facilities are at 3km distance in Bardos with its grocery store, butcher, baker and supermarket. There are 2 restaurants, too. In the nearby small towns you will find a lot more shopping facilities, also on traditional markets, which offer delightful regional delicacies. For your journey there are attractive low cost flight connections combined with car rental to Biarritz, Pau, Bilbao, Bordeaux or Toulouse from London or Dublin.

The bedrooms have a similar bright and appealing furnishing. The clear and friendly style attractively compliments the rustic elements of this historic cottage. We attached great importance to comfortable beds for your recreation. A crib will be available at request without extra fee. Bed linen can be rented.
Beginning 2008 both bathrooms are completely renovated and equipped with new WC, showers and wash basins. One of them is situated close to two of the bedrooms. Its tiles are white on the walls and blue green on the floor. The third bedroom has its own en suite bathroom, which is tiled in bright yellow and grey. Towels can be rented.

The large 30 sqm eat-in kitchen is equipped with a glass-ceramic cooker, oven, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator with freezer and of course all you need to cook. For dining together there is a big wooden table and chairs for 6 persons. We also have a childs high chair at your disposal. In a niche you will find an ample wall cupboard. The washing machine is hidden in a separate chamber, where you also find a steam iron and ironing board. From this central room you reach two of the bedrooms and one bathroom. A wide French window leads to the terrace with its large wooden garden table and 6 matching chairs. The third bedroom with its en suite bathroom is situated beside the living room. There you have a cosy lounge with two sofas and table, complemented by a bookshelf and TV. Also this room has a large French window to step out on the terrace and further in the garden. There you also find a large sunshade and four canvas chairs.
To fully enjoy vacation in Etcheberry Borda and its most attractive surrounding nearby the Atlantic coast, a car will be necessary. For those guests who do not want to come with their own car, a flight combined with car rental is an attractive way of travelling to this lovely region of France. There are several airports in the surrounding: the nearest is Biarritz, from Pau it takes less than 1 hour, from Bordeaux or Bilbao about 2 hours and from Toulouse 3 hours. Especially for our guests coming from England or Ireland there are interesting low budget flight offers, e.g.: with Ryan Air from London Stansted to Biarritz, Pau or Vitoria/Bilbao and from Dublin to Biarritz or Vitoria/Bilbao; with Easyjet from London Luton to Bordeaux, from London Stansted to Bilbao and from London Gatwick to Toulouse; with Aerlingus from Dublin to Bordeaux or Bilbao. This way even a short one week holiday is worthwhile!
House and Garden
Etcheberry Borda is located in the lovely hilly landscape of the outskirts of the Pyrenees nearby the Atlantic coast. Its situation embedded between meadows and fields is very quiet: a wonderful place for couples, families or friends who seek tranquillity and peaceful recreation. Its floor plan is ideal for any combination from 2 to 6 persons to enjoy their holiday. Along the house in front of the kitchen and living room there is a large terrace which is characterized by a pergola with flowered bushes and a beautiful sight at the surrounding hills. With its wooden garden furniture it is a lovely place for dining together or talking with a glass of red wine outside. Ensuite you have the garden with a sunny meadow surrounded by trees and bushes: plenty of space for a sun bath on the deckchair or for the children to play. When we chose the furniture and equipment we took care of providing most comfort to our guests and creating a friendly and appealing atmosphere.
Beaches,excursions and sports
You easily reach the beaches of Côte Baque within about 30min. by motorway starting at 7km distance near Urt. In Biarritz the big promenade of the town, the small bays at Bidart or Guethary, the quiet bay of St. Jean de Luz or the vast beaches at Tarnos or Ondres. Traditional villages like e.g. La Bastide Clairence, St. Jean Pied de Port, Cambo les Bains, Espelette, Ainhoa and Sare are worthwhile to visit as well as the cities Bayonne and Pau and in Spain San Sebastian Pamplona or Bilbao with its gorgeous Guggenheim Museum.
All along the coast surfers find fantastic waves, there are lots of possibilities for horse riding and also for people who like to walk the region is very attractive. Also culturally there is a lot to discover, eg. the Musée Bonnat and the Musée Basque in Bayonne, the traditional festivals in the villages (famous the big Fête de Bayonne) or dance and music festivals during summer season. Not to forget lots of markets offering fresh food and regional delicacies!
Nearby Etcheberry Borda you will find numerous first-class golf courses along the coast in Ciboure, Saint Jean de Luz, Bidart, Biarritz and Anglet and up to Seignosse and Hossegor in Les Landes. By car you can quickly and comfortably reach 11 courses within 30 to 40 minutes using the excellent freeway connection via A63 or A64.
