You are sitting on the lower patio shadowed by kiwis and laurels, looking to the sailing boats, sailing from Port of Opatija to the Isle of Cres or you are sitting on the upper terrace (160 m²)at the evening barbecuing a fresh fish and watching the sea of lights from Rijeka from afar. In case it should rain (seldom) you enjoy the same vista from the panoramic window of the library. To the sea is the linear distance two kilometres, but be cautious: There are over 150 year-old stony steps, getting downstairs is easy – but getting upstairs will be harder, especially because of the best restaurants of the Kvarner’s Bay which are waiting for you at the beach.

Situated on the Croatian Riviera, Opatija (Abbazia) was just prior the First World War (in the time of the Austrian monarchy) one of the most favoured and popular seaside resorts on the Mediterranean Sea. It is not crowded, because a steep rocky coast does not tolerate mass tourism. Buzev Breg in the district of Pobri is above the downtown with a small arduous street.
