Our beautiful house lies in a small settlement (and a short dead-end street) just about 800 yards (ca. 1,2 km) outside the town of Mali Losinj, on the slope of a small hill, in midst of a light, scented pine forest with striking views onto the sea. Our house was renovated in 2004 and refurbished with much love for detail. You can choose between two spacious apartments (55 qm each), both for 4 persons and both facing the south and the sea. The apartments are comfortably furbished and offer many conveniences such as air conditioning, satellite-TV, DVD-player, a generously equipped kitchen with many small electric devices. All mattresses, pillows, bed linen, rugs and towels are new and of solid quality. All the floors in the rooms are parquet and on the walls we have some original works of local artists. Next to our garden you will find parking places for two cars.

According to The Sunday Times travel supplement from Feb 12, 2006, the Cres-Losinj archipelago is perfect for couples and families who like discovering! There’s plenty to discover here: dozens of small bays to swim in along the cost of the 100 km archipelago, which is only 2.5 km wide in average; narrow, shady town streets; wild herbs everywhere. Our house lies just about 800 yards outside of the town of Mali Losinj. Thus you can easily walk there, on a path along the sea. At the same time we are far enough from this vivid, industrious little Mediterranean town to enjoy the quiet. Mali Losinj spreads along a deep, wind-protected bay. It has a long promenade on the sea-front paved with beautiful white stones. Old tropical plants grow between the tables of many street-cafes, bistros and restaurants. Mali Losinj has been known as a health resort for over 120 years. The tradition reaches as far back as the Austrian-Hungarian Empire. You can see some beautiful villas dating from that time.

Then there is our big, well tended and in the summer daily watered Mediterranean garden for your convenience, containing rosemary hedges, a lemon tree right in front of the door (at this very moment, in the winter of 2005/2006 there are more then 100 lemons hanging down from the lemon tree, round, yellow and scented!), 2 lavender trees; over 20 oleander bushes, in all shades of pink, each 2-4 m high, 12 of them over 35 years old; a couple of square metres of broad opuntia bush, over 25 years old, spread with yellow flowers all through the spring and summer; a strawberry tree, a pomegranate tree, sage, bougainvillea, several mature agave-plants, Yucca, the South-African aloe, various summer flowers which got really old, because there has been no severe frost for years etc. Around our house a lot of birds are living and singing in the big old pine trees, mostly very small and colourful ones, but also blue jays cannot be overheard, nor blackbirds.

Our house with its two separate apartments is a great place for two families travelling together. Nevertheless, many couples appreciating quiet, well kept accommodation where they can feel at home spend their holidays with us, especially in spring and autumn, when the sun is warm, the air clear, the colours of nature even more intensive than in midsummer and the island so quiet and peaceful - and the rents the lowest. In May you will find yourself driving for miles through the blue fields of flourishing wild sage, only spotted with yellow marks of the Spanish broom in full bloom with its heavyly honeylike scented flowers. When you go hiking or mountaineering around the island in spring, you may also find yourself walking over carpets of wild, Common Cyclamen of beguiling scent. For all our guests we provide a free and big range of personalized information in advance, which you can hardly get elsewhere, so that you have time to study and prepare your stay on our green and sunny island.
Getting here
Getting there from Great Britain and Ireland: You can fly from several British airports by several companies to the airports of Pula or Rijeka - Krk which are both close to us. Fly Saturdays with Astraeus from May 6 till Oct 14 from London Gatwick and Manchester to Pula for 139 £, rent a car and catch a ferry to Mali Losinj from Brestova near Pula. Or fly Thomson from Heathrow to Rijeka - Krk from April 5 till Oct 14. Flight duration: 2.15 hours. We`ll be glad to provide you with all the timetables and booking information in Britain. A very good alternative, often used by experienced Croatia-travellers is flying Ryanair to Venice/ Treviso or Trieste in northern Italy and renting a car there. We are only a couple of hours away from these airports and will be delighted to support you with all details and maps of how to get to Losinj from there – it is quite easy. You can also fly Ryanair and easyjet to Ljubljana in Slovenia, which is just as close.
