This is a 2 family house with a large vacation apartment on the ground floor (72 m²), located in a private street. The apartment is equipped with cable TV which has all the German programs, video recorder, stereo system and CD player. The big living room has 2-4 places where people can sleep (1,5 m large double bed and a big extendable couch). In the bedroom there is a double bed (latex mattress, new laminate floor). The eat-in kitchen is well equipped. It has a dining corner for 8 people. There is a bathroom with bathing tub and shower, separate WC and a small storage room. The apartment has a quiet south location with wonderful view upon the Alps and upon Mühlbach. In the center, you can find: bakery, super market, and restaurants. The bus for skiers and hikers and the public swimming pool are 2-5 minutes on foot away. The skiing region is ca. 2 km away. The tennis courts are 4 minutes away, and they cost 8,- Euro per hour and per court.

Mühlbach am Hochkönig is a comfortable, convenient, family friendly mountainous village, 854 m high, in the middle of the federal state Salzburg. Mühlbach is located in the winter world of Hochkönigs, and it is well known for its 39 ski lifts and 150 slopes, between 900 and 2000 m high. You can be sure that you will find enough snow here. Furthermore, with the ski pass Amadé, you can use 860 km ski slopes and over 270 ski lifts. In the summer, there are countless hiking trails and mountain tours: 160 km hiking trails in an authentic landscape on the magnificent Hochkönigs. There are numerous excursion destinations in the neighbourhood: the mine museum in Mühlbach, the huge ice cave, the ski jump Bischofshofen, the Lichtenstein gorge, Dachstein mountains, Großglockner and the city of Salzburg, Krimmler waterfalls or Zell am See. You can surf in Zell am See (ca. 20 km). Summer skiing is possible in Kitzsteinhorn/Kaprun (ca. 25 km).

Availability notes Important tip regarding the inquiries for the high season, the Christmas, the New Year’s, and the Carnival week: please ask in advance, if you want to book for a full week in the period from December, 23rd 2006 (or earlier) and December 30th 2006. We kindly ask for your understanding for the fact that we cannot answer inquiries about shorter stays than a week n the high season. During the last year, we have had about 200 inquiries for Christmas and New Year’s time. During this period of the year, the rental week is from Saturday to Saturday (1st week: December, 23rd -30th, 2nd week: December 30th-January, 1st). You have the best chances if you want to rent the 1st week plus a few days before December, 23rd or the second week and a few days after January, 6th.

Notes to the rental rates: High season weeks: the minimum renting period for the Christmas, New Year’s, Carnival and Easter time is 7 days. During the New Year’s week, because of the high number of inquiries, we can only answer mails that show interest in the minimum time between December, 30th and January, 1st.
The final cleaning is 30,- Euro, the visitor’s tax is 1,- Euro per person, for people over 15. The rental rate per day includes the costs for electricity, water, heating and usage of the washing machine, in the case of occupancy with 2 adults and 2 children.
Special prices are possible, upon request. Last minute price are also possible. There are special prices for longer stays (with the exception of the high season weeks).

Notes
The baker’s and the butcher’s can be reached in only 4 minutes on foot. The Adeg super market can be reached within 6 minutes on foot. The furniture is as good as new. Special linen for allergic or down people is available. In the house, there is a room for your skiers. There you can find the washing machine as well. The new insulated windows have rolling shutters. The south terrace has furniture (a beer garden set) and awning. Our small guests can stay here for free: there is a fun park at the home for the aged, roller skating track, half-pipe, volleyball, football, handball, street hockey, etc. There is also a weekly program for children in the “Schlawutzel” Children Club from the middle of June until the middle of September, with children train and petting zoo.
In Mühlbach on the Hochkönig, you can find 130 best marked hiking trails, both for comfortable Apline hiking, and for difficult tours on the high mountains. The Königs tour leads to Matrashaus, on the top of the mountain Hochkönigs, which is 2.943 m high. There are also easier ways to enjoy the landscape, such as the excursion street Mandlwand, the cable car, and the public hikers’ bus, which brings you into the fantastic mountainous world, and leads you to the Alpine huts. The bus station is only a few minutes away from the house. There are up to 17 folk music bands which travel from hut to hut.
Arriving without a car
The vacation apartment can be reached by public transportation. The next train station is in Bischofshofen, ca. 9 km away. From there, you can take a public bus of the Salzburg Transportation Network, which will bring you very close to our house. The bus station for the ski bus is 2 minutes from the house. In 5 minutes you can reach the station Karbachbahn, at the other end of the locality.
Shopping facilities
In Mühlbach, there is a bakery, a butcher’s, a drugstore and an Adeg super market. In Bischofshofen (ca. 9 km away), there are super markets such as Lidl, Aldi, Hofer, as well as do-it-yourself stores and very convenient gas stations.
The golf course and Brandlhof are to be found in the neighbouring town Maria Alm. Other golf courses can be found in Saalfelden and Zell am See.
Ski information
The skiing region Hochkönig-Winterreich is assured of snow, convenient and suitable for families. Here are the localities: Mühlbach, Dienten, Hinterthal and Maria Alm. The ski pass is valid for over 39 ski lifts and for over 160 km best prepared ski runs. The ski pass belongs to the ski network Amadé, which has over 860 km of slopes. You have the possibility to try new sloped, such as Gastein and Großarl. On location you can find several ski renting centers, a ski school with the Children Club “Schneewutzel”, where the small ones can learn skiing. Beautiful, old ski huts invite you to Après-skiing. There is also a lit toboggan run which brings you directly into town. Sleds are available in the house. A ski path leads you from the station Karbach to the house. There are cross country ski runs for the ones who cannot ski: 2 well kept high cross country runs are on foot of the mountain Hochkönigs, at 1500 m, and they are up to 11 km long. The 3rd child receives a free ski pass.
